We co-hosted this event together with the Community Orchard, to help harvest the apples and celebrate the equinox on Friday 23rd Sept. We cooked up a big stew with vegetables that were grown in the orchard and some of our gleaned veg. We also provided tea, coffee and delicious cake made by the volunteers. Such a great afternoon, with good food, good music, plenty apples picked and the amazing opportunity to have a go on a trapeze. Children and adults got very busy picking the apples, the orchard has been very fruitful this year and it was definitely their largest crop so far. These apples are going to be pressed by by St Ives Cider to make cider and apple juice but have also been used to make jam, chutneys and dried apple and some were given to us for distribution.
