Christmas Meal 2023

A wonderful Community Christmas lunch was very much enjoyed in the beautiful St John’s church which was aglow with happy faces, candles, fairy lights and Christmas trees. 🎄🎄
We served up 70 very delicious roast dinners, plus dessert, drinks and presents for all the kids. Our Chef Kirsty Oxley did herself proud cooking up more than enough for everyone with 15 takeaway meals to spare – so aprox 85 meals in all.

A big thanks to our volunteers who were all amazing, helping Kirsty with all the food prep, setting up and decorating the tables beautifully, making sure the meals were served hot with a smile and everything was tidied away afterwards.

❤️A fabulous addition was having live music provided by Gavin Nicol, Ann Nicol and Rick Chappell THANK YOU so much for coming along to play at the lunch. 🎵🎶

Thanks to many of the attendees too who also helped out and cleared up, it’s often hard to tell who is a volunteer and who is coming along which we love.

😁We are very lucky to live in this beautiful place and be connected to so many lovely people though Foodshare and Kevranna.

🙏🏻🙏🏻A few more BIG THANK YOU’S to all the following for your help to make this all possible. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

❤️To St John in the Fields, Nick & Debbie & all their team for the beautiful venue and their support throughout the year and organised all the Christmas trees decorated by local community groups.
❤️To Tretho Lounge who cooked up the very delicious Mushroom pie veggie alternative, stuffing balls & the Millionaire shortbread.
❤️To our angel Gabrielle for her delicious sweet treats that she always brings to the table – this time it was a vegan fudge.
❤️To Claire Harris who organised and wrapped all the presents for the kids.
❤️To the Three Ferrets who donated chicken for this meal.
❤️To Cornwall Gleaning Network who regularly bring us freshly picked farm produce, including lots of lovely potatoes for the meal.
❤️To St Ives Community Orchard & Nature Reserve who donated a box of their apple juice and made willow, holly & ivy wreaths to decorate the table.
❤️To St Ives Rugby Club for giving us a free place to store all the food we collect daily, with all the fridges and freezers it’s a very essential storage space.
❤️To the Western hotel who have lent us the plates for this meal (plus give us their delicious leftover roast every Sunday to share out)
❤️To Volunteer Cornwall who have provided most of the funding for all our Friday meals including this one.
❤️To everyone who donated towards this meal and who puts into our donations jar, it really makes a huge difference. Cornish Bakehouse has been great at raising funds through a donation jar in their shop.
Our group is entirely run by volunteers, so every cent you give goes towards keeping all our activities going (mostly our electricity bill! )
❤️Thank you again to all the volunteers that help us, nothing would be possible without your constant help and to everyone who comes along to our events and collections, for supporting us and giving us lovely feedback. It’s wonderful how sharing food has brought us together in so many ways and its been lovely getting to know you all.
🌟Wishing you a very merry Christmas and happy New year. 🌟
