There is a wonderful telephone box on the terrace at the top of Tregenna hill that was looked after for many years by Mark Campbell who adopted this disused yet historic feature of the town’s streetscape. Many people enjoyed chatting to Mark over the years at his unique little telephone box shop while looking at his interesting clocks and postcards for sale.
Alter Mark’s sad passing, with permission by his family, it has now been looked after by neighbour Robyn Calder who organises that it is decorated by a different community group each month.
The phone box now has its own Facebook group: St Ives Telephone Box and its own Instagram Page Stivescornwalltelephonebox8.
The Kevranna Social club run by St ives Foodshare, very much enjoyed taking over the postbox for the month of August with a fabulous Alice in Wonderland Theme. The group spent many a Wednesday session making all sorts of things to decorate it with.

Oh what is this? A wondrous sight!
A telephone box turned pure delight!
Not red and dull, but bold and grand—
As if it came from Wonderland!
The Queen of Hearts might tip her crown,
The Hatter pause his tea and frown,
For even they could scarce compare
To all the marvels waiting there.
A Cheshire grin, a rabbit’s dash,
A touch of tea, a hint of splash,
Your magic made the world stand still,
With craft and care and joyful skill.
Through looking-glass and painted door,
You’ve brought enchantment to our shore.
So thank you all for what you’ve done—
A fantasy for everyone!
