We ran a free community meal every Friday for six months over the winter 22 / 23 which were ‘pay what you feel, donations or free’. It wasn’t only for those who are battling financially but also for people who simply wanted to enjoy some company and a nutritious cooked meal.
This was much enjoyed by those attending, some saying it was the only time that they chatted to other people, that it hugely improved their general mental health and well-being knowing that they were regularly meeting up with other people.
The community meals provided for up to 30 people every week and were funded by Volunteer Cornwall’s ‘Winter Warmth Hub’ project . Every week a chef would cook up a main meal and pudding for all to enjoy. A large Christmas lunch was also provided for up to 55 people.
